BLACKSBURG — Longtime town employee John Boyer will be its director of public works.Boyer replaces Kelly Mattingly, who had announced earlier that he would retire by this month.'John is a natural fit to lead our public works department,' said Blacksburg Town Manager Marc Verniel in a news release. 'He has successfully progressed through the ranks of the department and demonstrated time and again that he has the professional skills and vision to lead our public works department into the future. I'm looking forward to our continued work together.
