A night's sleep didn't provide Kevin Jones any clarity. It was Jan. 24, 2001, two weeks from national signing day, and Jones, the all-world running back who had run for 5,878 yards and 84 touchdowns in his high school career en route to being named SuperPrep's No. 1 prospect in the country, would soon announce at a press conference held at Cardinal O'Hara (Pa.) High that afternoon which college he'd be attending: Penn State or Virginia Tech. The problem? He hadn't made a decision yet. Oh, he'd tried to lean one way or another, going over the pros and cons of each school with his father, Thomas, the night before.
